Extracted Honey today
At last found the time to extract some honey off my hives. Unfortunately due to work had left it a bit too long. I had taken off 177 jars in mid May after Oil Seed Rape, however I think some OSR flowers were still an available source for my bees. OSR honey if not removed early sets very hard and is nearly impossible to extract. I had removed 5 supers from various hives, but found crystalised honey in many of the frames. I still spun them in extractor and would estimate I have about 75 lbs of honey, however this could have been much more, if it had not crystalised. So as not to waste the frames, my wife Helen cut out the crystalised honey between the wires. These wet frames and supers will go back on the hives tonight about 9pm.
The bees will enjoy the residue honey and I am certain will soon build comb in the gaps where the crystalised honey and comb has been cut out. I know for next year I will wait just a little longer to make certain OSR has all finished in the area. With beekeeping you are always learning !!

Thanks for writing this. Quick question, if you don’t object. Where did you obtain your web template? I will be beginning a website and desire your site.
No problem. It was designed by me, then put together by http://www.bombshelldesign.co.uk so not from a template. I have no problem with them doing you a site using my design.
I have just added this blog to my rss reader, awesome stuff. Cannot get enough!
