New Bee photos
Whilst doing a commercial photo shoot in a garden this week, I noticed honey bees and bumblebees working some flowers. I was waiting for the sun to come out from behind some clouds, so I grabbed a few photos. These were taken on a Nikon D3x body with Nikon 105mm macro F2.8.
Been busy also doing aerial land survey photography and rushed back after landing to meet the regional bee inspector who had arrange to come over and go through my hives. Though not keen to put on beesuit as it was 30c degrees, we went through each hive. I am pleased to say other than a a few cells with wax moth, in one hive, all my hives passed with flying colours. If, as I hope you are registered as a beekeeper, you will get a call from your regional bee inspector. Don’t be nervous of him, as he/she is there to help. Good opportunity to learn with a very experienced beekeeper going through your hives.
At last summer arrived this week with some beautiful weather, my bees were all working hard bringing in a good nectar flow. Hopefully might get a little honey from my August extraction. Fingers crossed !!. If not enough to extract, then I will give it all back to the bees to fill their winter stores.
